CELBRATING WOMEN
AT ST JOHN THE APOSTLE PARISH KIPPAX

On Sunday 11 August 2013, to celebrate the feast day of our first Australian Saint…St Mary of the Cross MacKillop a gathering was held at St John the Apostle’s Parish Centre. An audience of more than 80 people including parishioners, visits from other local parishes and an interstate visitor Fr John Bosman MSC, listened to 12 women speak of their various vocations, ministries and callings.
Speakers aged from 22 to over 80, it was the organiser’s plan to have a cross section of ages, backgrounds and experiences, and each speaker was invited to speak for up to 10 minutes. Ken and Mary Moran entertained the audience with a selection of songs before men from the parish served afternoon tea.
Before the talks began there was a time of prayer and reflection focusing on the life of Mary MacKillop. The topics and speakers were as follows:
